Cynthia was the sister of the moon goddess, Diana.
Cynthia was not a sister of the Roman Diana or the Greek Artemis. It was one of the nicknames of Artemis. This because she was born on Delos with the mountain Cynthus. Personally I don't see Cindy as short for Cynthia, just Cyn or Cynthi.
