Her name means 'she of hair' or 'mother'. She is also know as Kybele and Magna Mater [Roman]. Her titles are: 'Mistress of the Animals', 'Mother of the gods, savior of who hears' and 'Accessible One'. She is the goddess of life, death, rebirth, nature, beasts especially lions and bees; caverns, mountain tops, walls, and fortresses. She was worshipped in Phrygia, Turkey, Mauretania, Morocco and Algeria; in Greece the cities of Athens, Ephesus, and Crete Island; Lyon, France; Madrid, Spain; Syria; and Alexandria, Egypt. Her most estatic follwers were castrated males who led the people in orgy type ceremonies with wild music, drumming, dancing, and drink.
