Means "arise; stand up" in Aramaic. While not originally a name, it's use as a name is likely due to the Biblical passage in which it's found: 'Taking her by the hand he said to her, 'Talitha cumi,' which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise."'(Mark 5:41). This passage is also the origin of the use of Talitha as a given name.
