This is a name I personally don’t like, but I understand why people do.
Corey is a very great timeless name that anyone at any age can have.
Dated.
I love Corey as a unisex name. It’s so nice sounding and different!
I think Corey is a nice name for either gender. It sounds so soft and gentle and gives me beach vibes for some reason. I also like it because it reminds me of my favorite color, coral, which would actually make for a really nice name too in my opinion.
Overall, I think Corey is a beautiful name.
Ick. Ridiculously dated to the eighties/nineties. I would never use this today.
Love this name and becoming a favorite of mine! Though I would personally use it on a boy, it can work on a girl as well. I prefer this spelling over Cory.
I like for a boy and girl.
All the people I knew with this name were white guys from low income families. The kind who got detention or got caught selling drugs or shoplifting at the mall.
Corey reminds me of a bratty 5-year old girl. Other than that, it's just not appealing to me.
I was given the name Corey in 85, my mom wanted Carey but my Dad wouldn't have it. I'm gonna say thanks dad on this one. I didn't so much care for the name growing up, more or less early school that faded once I realized I was the only one in my area with the name. I love my name. I'm proud to have it, I wouldn't be me without it. Honestly I can't picture me without it. I'd say it's an all around masculine and feminine name. I'm actually dating a beautiful woman who shares our name- hers Corrie and mine Corey, that by the way wasn't planned but took a bit to get used to but we rep it well. I couldn't care what negative comments like "it's a hideous name" that were coming from an individual that did decide not to share his/hers/its name with us (just sayin) if you don't like the name hey you don't like it keep it. To yourself you don't. See. Us going after your name and what we think of it but then again how could we right? Ya didn't leave one not that we would. Anyway were. Sure you. Got a great name as well. I think Corey and Corrie are one. Hell of a good name.
"Unknown meaning" = meaningless.
Cute name for a boy once you get over the fact that kory means daughter in Greek.
I LOVE this name. My little boy is called Corey and he is the sweetest, most loving, calm and content child. I don't understand why people are saying the name won't age well. His name is what it is and it will just grow with him. Struggled so much with finding a boy's name; as soon as I saw it, it was love at first sight!
I absolutely love this name. Cute but mature at the same time.
I'm a woman, born in 1963 and my mother gave me this name. It had nothing to do with the TV show, Julia, either - it came from a song, "Darlin' Corey." It was made famous by the group The Weavers, in the 1960s, but actually goes back as far as the early 20th century. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darlin'_Cory). The lyrics don't speak very well for the future of a woman with this name and I asked my mother about that once; she said she didn't care about all that, she just liked the melody of the song and the name about which it was singing. Good enough for me.And for what it's worth, yes, I was sometimes told that I spelled my name "wrong" or "the boy way," but that never got in my way. In fact, it often served me well - I know of at least one job interview I got in the 1980s because the person reviewing my resume thought I was male - but once I was there, they couldn't very well turn me away. And I got the job :)As it stands, I go by my whole given name, "Corey-Jan," which usually (but not always) gives people the hint that I'm a girl.
The spelling of Cory is fine (I see nothing wrong with it) I just prefer the spelling of Corey more. Maybe because it looks more complete (:
I was born in the late 70's & went to school with two Corey's. It always reminded me of apple core.
It's pretty nice but doesn't it sound a little babyish?
My name is Corie and I am a female. I have never had a problem with people saying it was a masculine name or that "it doesn't age well". When I'm 50 that will be my name and I will be older therefore it will age with me. That's a weird thing to say that it won't age well. Also the name is "hideous"... Not really, just because it's not your name or you don't like it doesn't make it hideous. No it is not common at all especially for a girl.
I much prefer this spelling over cory.
Cory/Corey/kory/korey is a males nameKori/korie is just a males name with a prissy spelling. Femininzing the spelling to a males name doesn't change the fact the pronunciation is still there, and unless you are deaf or hard of hearing (no offence) then you would be able to understand that this is completely a males name.
Huh? This name is only masculine?
I have a good friend whose name is Corey and she is the nicest women you could meet. Very feminine and lady-like. I have always wanted to ask her why she has a name that is so masculine, but I've always thought it rude to ask.
All in all I think it's a good name, better for a boy, but either way!
I don't think it's hideous at all. The longest friendship I've ever had was with a guy who used this name. Plus, it's not that common. The only problem is that it doesn't age well (ex. I don't think it'll be appropriate when he's in his 50s or so).
I always thought of this name as a boy's name. I have a male cousin named Cory. Then I met a female named Corey and now I see it clearly as both male and female names.
This is great on a girl too! It should be masculine and feminine on the home page of it!
Corey Haim sadly passed away last year. I plan to name my first son Corey after him. Corey is a great name.
It's alright, it's not one of my favourites but I think it would be cute on a little boy but not a 50 year old, no offence.
I love this name, I like the weird sound of the R. I have a close friend with this name, it suits him.
I think this is a cute name, although I do shudder when I hear it because it's my ex-boyfriends name. I know like 4 Corey-s, but 1 of them is a girl and the girl and a boy spell it Cory. (I personally like Corey because I'm so used to it.)
I love the name Corey, I've given this name to my 2nd son. I live in the UK and everyone here keeps saying that it is a very American sounding name but I always think of it as an Irish name.
This can be a girl's name, too. I like this name, but it wouldn't seem right on a 40-year-old.
I think that this is a hideous name. I have no idea why this it's somewhat popular.
Seems Celtic to me, just that weird feeling I get when I say it.
