Normally I don’t judge all kinds of word names, so Comfort is actually a cute name, especially for a girl. Since women are typically soft and gentle so I wouldn’t use it for a boy. I like the name Comfort for a girl who would actually provide Comfort to the individual standing next to her. Abigail would say “I need some Comfort” and Comfort is there for her. A girl named Comfort would get compliments while she calms people down. So technically Comfort is a comfortable name! I agree it’s tacky, but not in a bad way. And it’s not very trashy.
This is an actual name?! Reminds me of some person on a mattress commercial.

Is the must honourable name I have ever had in my life with so much power, my good friend has the name and she is really comforting in nature so I recommend the name.
My boyfriend has this name. He's the only Comfort I've ever heard of, but his personality and integrity makes it an absolutely strong name. It's perfect for him and I love it.

I'm surprised by how much hatred this name elicits. Comfort is cute, sweet and homely.
I'd like to second the things already said, especially "comfort women," & mention that the only nickname or pet name you can get out of it (besides completely incomprehensible "Com" & "Fort") is "Comfy," which is truly ridiculous!
Well, once you get past the usual 'it's a word so you can't use it!', it's actually a cute name. Nice mix of consonants. On the other hand, I saw the name and kind of snickered on the inside. Mostly because I do enjoy my sex jokes >.>. And then I read the other comments here and noticed the "comfort women" association (by damn, I'm Chinese, shouldn't that've come to me sooner?) and my inner self abruptly stopped smiling. Either way, I'd suggest not using this name.

Comfort does NOT sound like a name! It is a pretty name it just doesn't sound like it. If I liked the name Comfort I would see what the name sounds like in other languages:)
I do not like this name, but I'd like to set something straight: this name is a word in the sense that the name "Violet" is a word. All names are words.

Comfort is not a name. For some odd reason, Comfort is a name in the same vein as Honor - a name that sounds like it is used by sexist parents. The association with "Comfort women" during WWII is even more horrible. I pity whoever has this as a name.
Comfort is a word, and not good as a name. Even if it wasn't a word, it would still be a terrible name. The end-- 'Fort' doesn't sound good, in my opinion.

One of the weirdest names ever. And the most horrible names as well. I wouldn't even call a fictional character in a short story Comfort!
What the heck? What kind of a name is this?!? Why, why, why would someone please tell me why you would name your child "Comfort". Soon words like sanitary and solitude and maybe even microwave will become names! Like, wow.

This is not a name, it's a word!

It's just a name and a very pretty one at that. It would work as a cute middle name too.

Eep, Comfort stations and ''Comfort women'' do come to mind. The poor girl would get jokes. A lot. For a long time, like, say, for her entire life, until she kills herself at 15. This isn't a name, it's a state of mind and something people do to make others feel better.
Terrible name. I met a girl named Comfort in my Food & Nutrition class. I don't know why anyone would name their child this.

"Comfort" makes me think of the "comfort women", the numerous Western Pacific women who were kidnapped and forced into prostitution by the Japanese during World War II. This association is not a good thing for a girl or woman.
