Would not recommend using in a Portuguese speaking country.
I know a few people named Corinne (all French Canadian) and they all use Coco as a short form, especially in English, since anglos often can't pronounce Corinne correctly.
Could be a nickname for Colleen.
In general it's also used for boys because in the Philippines it sounds masculine but in other countries it is used for girls only.
