To expand on the meaning/usage of the name, Ciar (Kee-er) also exists as a word in Scottish Gaelic. It is the adjective for 1. Dusky, gloomy, 2. Dark, swarthy, 3. Dun. It is also the verb for darken. Both are spelled and pronounced the same. So the name translates into Scottish perfectly.
