For Jesus' name (or title, technically), the name is accented on the second syllable (khree-STOS). As a personal name, it is accented on the first (KHREE-stos.) (In Greek writing, an actual accent mark would be used, so the two names would not be written alike.) (I had a great uncle of this name. His English name was "Christ" (pronounced with a short I as in "wrist"), though we always called him either "Thio ("THEE-o", that is, uncle) Christo" (vocative case, so no "s") or "Uncle Chris."
