In 1989, the Seattle-based rock band Mother Love Bone released a song titled "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns". It is considered one of the fifty best songs over seven minutes long by Rolling Stone magazine. The song's popularity could have contributed to the name's subsequent meteoric rise in popularity.

The spelling with the Diaeresis is the French form of this name, which is pronounced as [xlɔe'] rather than [klɔ:wi] as in English. This name is not French, though when I was younger, I thought it was.I believe it bears some relationship to the name Chloris, as the first four letters are the same and both have some relation to the colour green, though I am entirely uncertain as per their actual deriviation.
