Cecil

Cecil McBee is an American jazz bassist. He has recorded as a leader only a handful of times since the 1970s, but has contributed as a sideman to a number of classic jazz albums.

Cecil Mamiit is a former tennis player from the United States who went on to represent the Philippines. He began his professional career in 1996 and reached his highest individual ranking in the ATP Tour on October 11, 1999 as World No. 72.

Cecil Healy (1881 – 1918) was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1900s and 1910s, who won silver in the 100 m freestyle at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. He also won gold in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He was killed in the First World War at the Somme during an attack on a German trench. Healy was the second swimmer behind Frederick Lane to represent Australia in Swimming and has been allocated the number "2" by Swimming Australia on a list of all Australians who have represented Australia at an Open International Level.

Cecil B. DeMille (1881-1959) was an American movie director and producer. He was involved in the making of more than 80 movies, pushed for early Hollywood to make feature-length films rather than shorts, and helped found the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. DeMille is regarded as one of the most successful directors of all time.

DeMille is also well-remembered for his role in 1950's Sunset Boulevard, in which he plays himself, and more importantly, for his mention in the final line of the movie: "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my closeup." Cecil The Tortise from the Bugs Bunny cartoons has this name. He's one of the only people who ever tormented Bugs.
