To me, it’s dated but not classic. I think it might have been the wife’s name in ‘American Beauty’, it may not have been, but that’s exactly the type of person I think of when I hear Carol.
I actually went to school with a girl named Carol. It just seems like an old lady name now. The kind of woman who would be married to a guy named Bob.
This name is GORGEOUS and makes me want to stand with my mouth like this O as carols for Jesus come out. Americans say this in a weird way though kinda like CARE ROLL. I prefer it to rhyme with apple.
I like Carol, I think it is a nice name but it doesn't sound too "girly". Of course, I like Carolina more, although it can also be shortened as Carol. Anyway, I still think it's a pretty appropriate name.
Just feels a little bit dry. It was popular many decades ago, not so much anymore, so in these days Carol is mostly considered as an older female name, but a similar name like Caroline is doing strong in the younger age group. Carol is alright, but not of my favorites.
So ironic that some are saying that Carol is an old-fashioned name while Caroline is not. Well, when I was growing up it was just the opposite: Carol was a popular girl's name while Caroline was old-fashioned. So much so that in the TV show Little House on the Prairie, they called Mrs. Ingalls Carolyn instead of Caroline. Because, you know, the name Caroline was just THAT awkward. I just have to laugh.
Carol is just like beautiful music notes.
This is my name and personally, I love it, however most Carols I know are a bit older than me. I was born close to Christmas and so my family sometimes referred to me as their "Christmas Carol" I read once that it means Song of Joy, which I think is lovely. I love music, so I believe it fits me well.
Too dated. I prefer Caroline.
This is my principal's name and I’m not really fond of her but... I LOVE THIS NAME! Carol is stunning! Breath taking, ages well, and mature. I personally think more parents should name their children names like this. Names like Carol, Deirdre, and more should be more popular unlike the over used cringe-worthy names of Jaylee, Kaylee or Jayden.
Yes we all know that old lady feeling to this name, but I’ve seen worse, no need to stress out.
Old and dated, yet somewhat striking.
My name is Carol and I don't mind my name.
There's nothing wrong with an old name, but this is so old that it's weird. I can only imagine 40+ people named this. So I much prefer Caroline or Carolina.
I don't like this name. I know a lot of middle aged Carols and it feels like a very 70s name. Adding the e to make it Carole just makes it seem pretentious to me. It's not a bad name, really, just not for me.
What a cute, pretty and charming name. :)
It looks better spelled this way rather than "Carole" I think. The e at the end looks unnecessary and pretentious, so if you pick this name, you should probably just stick with Carol.
So pretty. Makes me think of... well, a carol. A song, a melody.
I just love this name for a boy~ It's a bit whimsical, but not overly feminine.
This name is very boring and common for a girl, but for a boy, it sounds quite unique and masculine, for some reason.
This name is ok, but sounds very similar to Karen.
Carol is a too-old fashioned name for me. I prefer Carolyn or Caroline, but not Carol.
I used to love the name Carol until my cousin Josh started calling my brother Carl that. Now I'm not too big on the name anymore. I do like it better spelled Carole though.
