Carlos is also a common name in Portuguese Romances. In "Trips Over my Land", the main character is Carlos and in "Maias" the lead character is Carlos Eduardo. It was also the name of the last portuguese king and the name of a great emperor. It's probably one of the most famous names in Portugal.
