Meaning & History
Means "dearest, most beloved" in Latin, the superlative form of the adjective cara/carus meaning "dear, beloved, loved". This was borne by a medieval French saint, Carissima of Albi, known as Carême or Chrême in French. As a modern name it may be inspired by the Italian vocabulary word meaning "dearest, fondest".
