Camden is a really great name I like it personally.

I don't personally like using names that were originally a city or country name, but this one sounds quite nice.

English surnames and then there's Camden Town and Camden Market too - in London.

Are people using this as a form of Cameron using the suffix -den? Very trashy!

It's my chosen first name (I'm a trans guy), and it took me a while to settle on, but I've gone by it for 5 or 6 years now, and I love it. I've never associated it with the city in NJ, and no one I've met has either. Usually people call me Cam anyways.

Camden can be both genders and can be spelled many different ways! I have a friend and her name is Camden but is spelled Kamdyn!

It does have a nice sound but it makes me think of that TV show "Seventh Heaven" in which it was the family's surname. The TV show was extremely conservative so I personally wouldn't want my name to be associated with it. Also the actor who played the main character Reverend Camden later admitted to molesting young girls. This is just an awful association and I unfortunately am quite sure that anyone who was born in the 80s and 90s still somehow remembers this show and the scandal surrounding it as it was on a lot for several years.

There are 18 cities/towns in the United States alone with the name Camden. Camden, Maine looks like an ideal Rockwell-ian town where the mountains meet the sea. I do not know why so many people have to focus on Camden NJ and Camden Town. There are also counties and a famous ball park that bear the name. I think it sounds like a very nice name for either a boy or girl.

My Name is Camden V. and my name came after the family from 7th Heaven, according to my mom, and I really like my name because it's not common around where I live and I have never met anyone with the same name as me other than a little brother of an old friend of mine but his was spelled Camdyn which is a first for me. And when it comes to the place in Jersey it kinda sucks that I can be associated with that but that doesn't mean my parents hate me or that I'm a bad person just because of the name itself. I just really enjoy that I'm the only person I know with the name because it just makes me feel not special but just a bit "un average", and yes I'm a boy/guy.

Don't let it be a girl's name. Let it be the name of a MAN who has the guts to be strong, successful and respectful. It's masculine and beautiful and not in a weak way.

Camden is a port city in New Jersey. When I think of the name Camden, it's usually a pretty cool person, and definitely a lady's man. A Camden is usually smart enough to get good grades, but he has much more important things to worry about, like if the number Trinity gave him was real or not.

Camden is my daughter's name, and yes, she is named after Camden Town in London. I'm the first to admit it's not the fanciest place in London, and I'm not sure I'd want to be on my own there late at night, but it is a unique area that is fun and safe during the day. We were there (with Camden, who is nine) just last month and she loved spending the day in "her town". We wanted something different but not weird that was easy to pronounce and easy to spell. Camden fits the bill perfectly. We live on the West Coast of the US and people are constantly telling me how much they love her name. She loves her name, too, though she is currently going by 'Cami' at school because there is another Camden (boy) in her class. What are the odds!

That poor boy. Colin is a thousand times better than this 'name'. At least colin has history and class. 'Camden' is trashy, tacky, and sounds very similar to those horrible -aden names. Heck, why not name Camden's brother Trenton, another awful name taken from the name of another rundown New Jersey city? I cannot see this name aging well and it oozes celebrity-inspired unintelligence. I can only hope there aren't any idiot parents spelling it 'Kamdyn' or something like that and using it for girls.

I really like this name for a girl! It just has a soft sound to it, very gentle. And yes, I also like the name Cameron on a girl. ;p I like the names Eden, Camden, Peyton, Cameron, and Harlow on a girl. Go ahead and criticize if you wanna but the names sound girly. Sorry for the boys who have these names. :(

I think the current statistics are that Camden, New Jersey is the most violent city in America. So yeah, not a good association (if you live in the U.S.).

Ugh. This name is getting too popular and sounds trashy. And Camden is not exactly a nice place to live! I can see naming your kid after a beautiful city, like Vienna or Florence, but who wants to go with Camden?

Like others have said, the name Camden immediately makes me think of Camden, New Jersey, which is definitely not the most delightful namesake.

I love this, and definitely agree it's much nicer as a girl's name. But as for being named after Camden Town, in London? I'd love that! It's a beautiful, soulful place, with amazing people and a great culture, and yes it's rundown, but that's part of its charm!

This my son's name. I think of it as a boys name mostly but I also like it as a girls name, and I'm someone who usually hates boyish names on girls. He does get called Cameron a lot, mostly by older people but he has already learned to just ignore it and answer to Cameron anyway. My son is only four but he seems to like his name and so do most other people.

I think Camden would be very nice as a girl's name. I would definitely name my daughter or son this; it's very different and pretty without being overly flowery. There's also a town in Maine named Camden.

Camden is a great name, very strong and boyish. A great alternative to the over popular Cameron. Don't get me wrong, I like Cameron too.
