The name Cai is also a historic Welsh name and commonplace in Wales to this day, written accounts of this name are contained in a 7th Century Welsh book of folklore known as the "Mabinogion". Other commonplace variants of this name used in Wales are Cail, Caim (Irish version Kaim) and the biblically dervied Cain. It is interesting that the name is also considered Scandanavian. [noted -ed]
