William "Bunk" Moreland (played by Wendell Pierce) is a fictional Baltimore homicide detective in the TV show "The Wire". He was based on and named after Oscar "The Bunk" Requer, who was featured in the book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon, who created The Wire.
