It was my mother's maiden name, wouldn't think of it as a first name. Personally I think it sounds more masculine than feminine.

This doesn't even seem like a name to me, just sounds like a misspelling of Bridgette.

The one person I've met named this was a girl and she was bitter about it because she always got called Bridget. I think its a great name for a guy though.
