Possibly derived from Old English beo "bee" and a diminutive suffix, therefore meaning "little bee." It may also be related to the Old English masculine name Becca, from which Beckham is derived. This was the name of a ninth-century Anglo-Saxon saint.It is also the name of a priest and main character in the book series "The Saxon Stories" by Bernard Cornwell, on which the TV series "The Last Kingdom" is based.
