It's a wise name, I can only imagine really smart people with this name, but nowadays people are bullying the poor name! Make sure their nickname is Bart or something so other kids don't make fun of them :(
I like how it's biblical. I agree that it is a bit of a mouthful, but that doesn't make it a bad name. I personally wouldn't give this name to my child, but it could be a good character name. I think Bartholomew James would be an alright combo, he could go by B.J.
I hate it! Name your kid a sorta biblical name like Judah, see? There, much better. Too long and silly sounding for me to even have an interest in the name!
This is an interesting name in my opinion. It is very cool sounding, and I wish it were more popular with boys. I like the long version compared with the shortened “Bart”. Bartholomew sounds deep, interesting and otherworldly.
I love the trend of dusting off names of old and giving them life with a new generation; however, I must say Bartholomew is a bit of a mouthful along with names like Llewellyn and others. Hope the boys who carry those names have broad shoulders.

For me, this is the quintessential cat name. More than Felix, Sebastian... this name encapsulated "feline." I hear Bartholomew, and I immediately picture a cat licking his paws.

The name is alright. (But I would kill myself if this was my name).

It's a nice, dignified sounding name, if a bit stuck-up. Bart isn't a nice name though in my opinion.
Oh come on- "Bart" is NOT that bad as a nickname! ;-)

This is a perfect name for a cat, because you could just call it Mew. :-) But also good name for a man. A bit outdated of course but who cares? It is a bit long so I would probably go by a nickname if it was me.
Would I name a kid this name? I don't know. It is a little cute. Bart? Yes, The Simpsons is the first thing that comes to mind. Do I like it? Eh... it's okay, I guess. But if I had to choose between Bartholomew or Bart, I'd choose Bartholomew. Also, like someone else said, Bartholomew would make a good name for a cat; I LOVE the nickname "Mew"!
I personally love this name. It's so strong and royal and leaves an impression- a great impression. It's handsome, boyish, mighty and unusual.I wasn't crazy after it at first, but I started to like it a lot because it's mature and charming. It's absolutely one of the most gorgeous names for a boy.It beats your Jaydon or Mason.
This has got to be one of the worst names in the world! I thought it was pronounced BART-HOE-LOW-MOO! Ew. It reminds me of a posh boy who always walks with his chin sticking out.
I personally love this name. It sounds so cool! I have no idea why but it reminds me of someone who would be really wild and crazy, but in a fun, not weird, way. I wouldn't use this for a kid because it would sound ridiculous and really antiquated, but I would name a pet this.
My mum wanted to call me this if I was a boy but my dad didn't want it because it has too much of a religious connection. I found that slightly funny since my dad loves The Simpsons.
People who happen to share the negative traits of being both religious nuts AND pretentious would go for this ugly, long, foreign-sounding name that will be shortened to Bart, which sounds like fart.
Horrible on a boy/girl. But cute for a cat! I think this is a name for a cat because it has "mew" on the end and mew can be a nickname.

I personally dislike it; however, I am starting to warm up to it mostly because it is one of those names that nobody would ever attempt to change into a girl's name. Which is a positive because it is so RARE to find a guy's name that those people who has an obsession with turning boys' names into girls' names will never be turned into a girl's name.
What a mouthful! Can you imagine a five- or six-year-old trying to learn how to spell this name? Plus he might get the nickname Bart, which sounds horrible. If you wish to give your son a rare name, find something other than Bartholomew.

(In regards to the Biblical character) I much prefer the name Nathanael. I could never warm up to Bartholomew.

I had a boyfriend once with the last name of Bartholomew. Because my mom didn't like him much, she would pronounce it (though not to his face) "barf-on-you." I've never been able to get past that and like the name again.

Bartholomew! There's is this one cartoon about a dog who hated wheels. It's sooooo cute and hilarious and this name reminds me of that dog. Though, I wouldn't name my child this, I still think it's cute!
