Comments (Meaning / History Only)
"Son of Encouragement" and "Son of the Prophet" mean essentially the same thing in the New Testament. Prophecy was redefined in the NT as speaking encouragement into someone's life. In the Old Testament, prophecy referred to predicting the future as revealed by the Holy Spirit. So the translation of Barnabas in Acts is accurate.
