I like this pronunciation way better. It's not as nails-on-chalk sounding like the pronunciation Ay-vuh is.
Basic and dated.
I love the German and Iranian (AH-vah) pronunciation. This sounds beautiful and sweet. I HATE the English "AY-və" pronunciation.
Just want to add an update. Whilst I love the sound of this pronunciation, Ava pronounced the English way (AY-və) has actually grown on me! I love both now. =)
My name is Ava and I am at least the third generation Ava in my family. There are two generations that are younger than I am,, making us a five generation Ava family. We are of Scandinavian origin. We do not have a family history past the five generations. My great aunt Ava was from Wilkerson, Texas and was born in the late 1800's. I am glad that we are not part of the current popularity rage of the name Ava.
I personally love this name! :) does anyone know any good ways it could be made longer or added on to? I love long names and I thought maybe I could alter this a bit. Any suggestions?
I really like this name. It sounds prettier than the common 'Eva'. So, I think I would name my daughter this.
