Wait, you guys are giving your daughters this name?
In 2018, 15 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Austin who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 140th most common male first name for living U.S. citizens.
The name Austin was unfortunately given to 151 girls born in the US in 2015.
The name Austin can be dated back to the 19th century, and perhaps earlier than that. The 19th century poet Emily Dickinson had a brother named William Austin. He went by the name Austin though. Intersting fact #2 - Texas has a big city named Austin. The city is considered to be pretty liberal politically and has been called "the blueberry in a raspberry field." The Raspberry field refers to Texas on a whole being conservative. Austin, Texas even has a sign that reads, "Keep Austin Weird."
There are A LOT of Austins (and Austens) at our school. I think there are around 25, and that's only 3 grades in a 3A school.
