Asya is the name of one of my childhood friends. I personally love this name and wouldn't mind calling my child Asya if I ever have a daughter. It's a short and soft sounding name, easy to pronounce and it can be either a stand alone name or a diminutive for Anastasia. I love the sound of it.

This is a pretty sounding name. It has sort of a fantasy feel.

A very good friend of mine is named Asja, pronounced the same way as this. She is Bosnian, but I am not sure if this is a common name in Bosnia. She does have many issues with people mispronouncing it, as you can imagine! Especially since her last name is also a mouthful! All in all though, I think it is a very beautiful name.
