My name is Aria and I have always known of the musical meaning and Italian meaning of air; however, it wasn't until my freshman year in college that I learned of the Hebrew meaning of Lion. Those two words are completely different, yet, together, they describe me absolutely perfectly. This is a strong and powerful name that I am proud to carry.
Arya, Aria, or آریـــا is a Persian and Sanskrit male given name, based on the self designation of people speaking Indo-Iranian languages as "Arya" meaning "Noble" in Sanskrit and Persian. The name is also used in India, in regions of shared ancestry. The term "Arya" was also used as an ethnic epithet in the Achaemenid inscriptions and in the Zoroastrian Avestan tradition.

I heard that this was Italian. It means Air, peace and tranquility. It it is a very simple, pretty name.
Aria is a form of Ariadne. Ariadne is a particularly neat name too. The most notable connection Ariadne has, in my opinion, with the ancient world is the Minoan Snake Goddess of the same name.In Greek legend, Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos. Her dad put her in charge of the labyrinth (or one of them... Knossos or Thera?). She was pretty damned cool.So as for Aria being nonsense, fantastical and a fad? Sorry, people have had this name or a close form of it literally since Thera was settled. It is therefore probably one of the most historically important names in the Aegean. There was a period of history where we lost matriachal polytheism a lot, replacing it with patriachal monotheism. It makes sense that since the Persians and Phrygians were closely related with the massive sea-faring empire on Thera and Crete, the name could've been carried across and had its gender flipped at some point.
My husband is Persian and we think this name is beautiful. It IS a Persian name as the person above commented and since I don't watch tv I know nothing of a stupid show with the name in it. It's hard to find a pronouncable Persian name and this is the only one we agreed on.
To the person above saying Arya is another spelling variation of Aria... you are highly mistaken! Aria is pronounced ARE-ee-ah and Arya is pronounced ARE-yah. Arya is a unisex Sanskrit name that means "Noble" while Aria means "Air". They are NOT related.

Although an "aria" was once used for "song" or "melody", nowadays it means so only when speaking about music in technical terms, or to describe a specific piece of music. Aria means "air" in Italian.
