Aria is the birth name of Asia Argento (1975-) daughter of the famous film director Dario Argento (1940-). They wanted to name their child Asia but in 1970s geographical names were forbidden by law so they were forced to choose another name and it was Aria. After she became famous Asia increased in popularity and the law changed, but only for a few names like Asia, Europa (that could be mythological) and Siria (Syria, but could be the feminine form of Sirio as well).
Aria is the main name of the little girl in Rune Factory 2 (you can name her anything you want, however). Her seiyuu (Japanese voice actor) is Maeda Ai.
In "Eragon," by Christopher Paolini, one of the main characters, an elven princess, is named Arya, which is pronounced the same way. This may color perceptions of the name, as the two are pronounced exactly the same way.
There is a mousemaid in the book Martin The Warrior by Brian Jacques named Aryah. She is the mother of one of the main characters named Laterose (Rose) and Brome.
Another version of this name, Arya, is a main character in George R. R. Martin's series of books, A Song of Ice and Fire. She is disobedient and wild, but she is one of my favorite characters.

Aria was used in the book Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon. It was used as a word meaning 'my star' in the Lirin language. It -might've- been selected because of its meaning, which has a lot to do with the main character of the books, who is a Singer.
