I love Ari as a nickname for the name "Ariel" (for boys).

My nickname is Ari. Or in the words of my gram Ari Bari. My real name is Arianna thou. I like shorter names/nicknames better than the full thing. I also get called Ar or R or my Chinese name (I am biracial).
I love Ari as a nickname for Arya, Aria, Ariadne, Ariana, Ariella, Ariel, Arielle, Aurelia, and so forth. I don't like it much as a stand alone name, and only see it as a masculine name if it's a nickname for Ariel, but it's a great nickname!
I really like it, as it's short, cute, yet can still work for a grown man. It's one of those soft-masculine names that seems more fitting for an actor or dancer than an uber-masculine construction worker or lumberjack. It doesn't sound bad on girls, but I prefer it on females as a nickname for Ariadne or Ariana or Adrienne or something else.
My name is Ari and I'm genderfluid. Ari is a good unisex name but seems to be found more commonly in guys. There's Ariadne "Ari" Kaligaris, Lena's mom from the Sisters of the Traveling Pants books. There's Ari Alexander, Ava's husband from the Beautiful Fate books Masculine and sexy in a man, light and feminine in a woman.
My name is Arin, but I've only ever been called Ari. Pronounced "Ah-ree". I've *never* been called "air". "arry" (like Harry with the H missing) I've been called maybe twice in my life. I'm a girl and though there was a boy Ari in my class at school, neither of us got teased about it.
I love the mane Ari for a male pronounced Ah-re (as in the ar sound in car). It's a male character off the tv show Entourage. It's great for any age and great that it can't be shortened. I honestly don't know how Ari would ever get called 'Air' that's crazy that would mean Eli would get 'lie'! I know people with both names and have never heard this.

I think this is a lovely name for a man. Gives a very romantic impression. I know someone named Ari and it is true that people often mispronounce his name and call him "Air".
I actually really love this name-- the only reason why I wouldn't consider it as a name, if I ever had a son, is because the only Ari I know is the freakiest young man I've ever seen in my life. Otherwise, it's a really unique sounding name-- it's a cute nickname for Ariel, too.
It's a decidedly more masculine to use Ari instead of Ariel. While I really like both, Ariel is much more feminine in my eyes. Ari's a really strong name for a boy that he'll be able to grow up with. I like it.
I have a close friend named Ari. He is a bit of an original, you could say. He's quite nerdy and has extremely long hair. I think my impression of the name has been imprinted forever.
