Though used more commonly in ancient times, Anatolia is another name for the region of Asia Minor. Today, Anatolia's largest city is Istanbul. The name Anatoly shares the same Greek linguistic root meaning "sunrise" (Anatolia is to the east of Greece, hence, towards the sunrise).
