It definitely means exalted nation in Hebrew, not sure where that other stuff comes from. We named one of our sons Amram.

Hitchcock's Bible Names Dictionary adds two further possible meanings: "their sheaves; handfuls of corn". Strangely, in addition to "exalted people" Strong's Hebrew Lexicon also gives the translation as "their slime".
