I think some commenters have gotten the idea that this is a cre8tive spelling of Alice. Actually, both have been historically used. This is a Welsh variant and I think it's lovely.

I agree with a previous comment - this is the modern Welsh form of Alice, deriving from Alis. My Welsh cousin bears this name.
