Why is everyone being so rude? NO ONE IS TELLING ANYONE TO NAME THEIR CHILD THIS! It literally means god. No one is naming their kid God, but that doesn't make it a bad name. Just because it's not suited to a child doesn't make it a bad name. Also, the "Islamic" god is the god of Abraham, the same one worshipped by Christians and Jews.
These comments are so rude...Allah is a great name, and you people need to get your priorities straight because every name is wonderful in its own way.
Why are the ratings so "devious" and "unintellectual"? --- Edit: thought I'd see names 'similar' to Allah in the similar ratings, something like God, Yahweh, Jesus, religious names in general.Instead, what I found was Osama, Saddam, Mohamed, Mohammed. The bad views of this name here in Behind The Name community is not because it would be a sacred name, a name that sounds bad, weird, rough, strange *per se*. But because it is an Arab name. Because it is related to Islam. Because it is related to another culture other than the Anglo-Saxon America + Western Europe. Because folks from BtN, who are mainly from these 2 regions, associate another culture to terrorism.Allah has ratings similar to Saddam and Osama. It's like if the name "God" was related to Christian dictators from the West. But it's being related as if Islam was a religion of terrorism. Don't forget that the European Christianity also killed. Killed people, cultures and languages.By the way, Allah have similar ratings to Jerk and Nîga. Names that only sound bad for the aforementioned regions. Stop centering your views on something by your own culture. I originally wrote my comment anonymously, but now I'm removing the anonimity here. Hope you can understand what I mean.
I don't recommend using this name AS a name. It is God's name. If anyone wants the name Allah to be a part of their name somehow, use "Abdullah" which means servant of Allah. You could also Google the translation of "Creation of Allah" to Arabic and use that as a name.

Please don't name your kid this. It would sound offensive and, as a Muslim, I think Allah would be pretty furious. Instead, why not use a name that is evocative of one of His titles, such as Malik, Aziz, or Rahim? (Just add an A at the end for most of them to feminise them.) You could also use Abdullah, which means "servant of Allah".
No, people don't use Allah as a name - that would be blasphemous. This site is about the history and meaning of names, not about proper names for children. The "name" Allah is, though, a part of many names, like Abdallah.
Allah is the personal name of the creator of this universe. The word Allah means the one who is the source of and centre of every good and free from any evil. I love Allah and pray to him that he also do so.
