If you like this name but don't like the connection with Alfredo sauce, "Alfred" is another option that works pretty well. "Alfreda" works for a girl too.
This name makes me hungry. It’s probably perfectly normal in Portugal, Brazil, Italy, and Spanish-speaking countries, though. Chicken Alfredo seems to be mostly only popular in the U.S.
Truth be told if I didn't think of the sauce every time, I probably would have way more respect for this name. Alfredo isn't terrible and certainly isn't one of the worst names within the charts. It's just that it's too associated with the sauce. Al & Fred\Freddy are good nickname options though. Even Alfred.
It's a good name. It's better for the pasta sauce though.

Alfredo is my name though I've always been used to being called Freddie more than anything. I still have mixed feelings for both Alfred and Alfredo alike. While the origin of the name and its many famous bearers are interesting, the Spanish/Italian version sounds real stupid and I get annoyed when people joke about it. All in all I seek to change my legal name to its original form or resort to looking for another name.

A masculine name that may be the name of a sauce but is also a common name and a good one. I like it.

I wouldn't name a kid this. Mainly because it's the name of a sauce.
