Alene Duerk (1920 – 2018) was an American military officer. She became the first female admiral in the U.S. Navy in 1972. She was also the director of the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps from 1970 to 1975. She is a 1974 recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award of Case Western Reserve University's Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.
Alene E. Holt (sometimes spelled Aileen Holt) was a Canadian politician. She was the first female alderman for Peterborough, Ontario, elected in 1959 and the first female mayor, appointed in 1962.
Alene Lee (1931–1991) was an African-American member of the Beat generation in New York City whose romantic relationship with Jack Kerouac was the central theme in his novel The Subterraneans. Kerouac used the pseudonym Mardou Fox for Lee. Lee was also the model for the character of Irene May in Book of Dreams and Big Sur. Lee shunned publicity, but her daughter has written about her life.
