Alberta Cooper Gay (1913 – 1987) was an American domestic worker, schoolteacher and the mother of five children including American recording artists Marvin Gaye and Frankie Gaye.
Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer and dressmaker. She designs for her namesake brand Alberta Ferretti, and designed for Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti until 2014. Her showroom is in Milan, Italy but her studio is in her native village of Cattolica, near Rimini, Italy. She was among a group of Italian designers who were invited to a reception for 200 designers and retailers held by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at 10 Downing Street, in October 1988.
Alberta Williams King (1904 – 1974) was Martin Luther King Jr.'s mother, married to Martin Luther King Sr. She played a significant role in the affairs of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a musician and a teacher.
Saint Alberta was a Roman martyr who is said to have been tortured under the emperor Diocletian at the same time as Saint Faith. She was tortured and beheaded; her feast day is the 11th March.
