Alasdair Gray (1934-2019) was a Scottish artist and writer educated at the Glasgow School of Art. His most famous work was his genre-bending novel titled 'Lanark: A Life in Four Books,' which was first published in 1981. In 2020, a parliamentary action moved that 'Gray Day' should be celebrated annually on the 25th of February in honour of the author. 2021 marked the inaugural celebration of Gray Day, with a special Gray Day broadcast being released on Youtube, featuring readings from Lanark, interviews, and music.
