Pronounced Alannah. Very sophisticated and masculine.
I first heard this name when I had a lovely work colleague of Irish heritage with it. What a beautiful name it is. I also like the Hebrew Ilana - an unrelated name, of course, but with a similar gorgeous sound.
Love this name so much that I used it on my daughter when she was born. I had a hard time deciding on the final spelling but ultimately love this variant as it really does evoke the Irish word “leanbh” from which this name is supposed to have been derived. Beautiful sound and the meaning is so wholesome.
Love this meaning.
I really like Alannah. It’s so pretty and unique! I might prefer the spelling "Alanna", though, with the h removed, but Alannah is nice as well! What I mostly like about it is that there is no way imaginable for kids to victimize and ridicule bearers of that name. Your child will probably be proud to wear it, as it’s very original. If my name were Alanna(h), I’d be pretty satisfied with the name. Nicknames for Alanna(h) could be: Lana, Annie, Ann, Anna, Anne, Leynee, Lannie, Lanna, Ally, Allie, Al, Alla, Alan, etc...
This is my name and people call me Alaina (Uh-Lain-Uh) but my name's Alannah (Uh-Lana) and I love my name, my mom and dad call me Lala though. I like being called Alannah because I found out that other people have that name too!
It's a pretty a great choice. Ages well :)
This is my name. Numerous people misspell it or mistake it for Hannah. I don't think the name is particularly unique or special though. My mother named me after singer Alannah Myles. I shared this name with a few popular girls at my school (spelt Alana though) and I feel this name suits a girl who is upbeat and popular. I'm none of these ironically. I don't love my name, it's just not something I would choose for myself.
Alannah is the name of a cousin of mine. I do like it but I do find it a teeny bit snobbish.
"Black velvet in that little boy's smiiiiile..."God, I hated that song. Hate the name Alannah *because* of that song. It sounds trashy and desperate, like a 50 year old woman at the end of a bar who tries like hell to attract the men and be what she once was, not getting that her time is up. Uh-uh.
I like this spelling because I like the h at the end.
This is very pretty. I want to use it to honor someone named Alan. Although I don't think the two names are related, Alannah has Alan in it. But anyway, I love this name.
My name is Alannah. I was named after the singer Alannah Myles (my mom was a big fan). I really like the name, and I've managed to get a lot of nicknames out of it. Lana, Ala, Ally, Anah. My only problem is that it gets pronounced a lot of different ways.
I only like this spelling due to the Irish heritage of it.
Alannah is a very nice, not overly used name. With the popularity of Anna I am surprised it isn't used more often. I prefer the spelling of Alanna or Alana though.
