Britto08's New Year's Compromise Congrats Round 1
First round! It's a year later, and you and your spouse have had their first child. When you have decided on a name, tell about the pregnancy and birth. How did it go? How is the couple adjusting? What did the relatives think?Rules
1. You keep up with ages after this round.
2. If you miss a round, you do not have to make it up, but you will not get a baby the round you missed. You'll pick up with the round after and have fewer children than those who didn't miss.
3. If you decide to go with a name theme, let me know and explain it if it isn't obvious.
4. When you have decided on a name, edit your last mesaages so the subject line says Done. That way I know when I can move on to the next round.
4. Have fun!

Lily, Arianna, and Cecelia are my favorites, although Theodora and Rose come in a very close second. I can't really choose a middle name without knowing what we want as a first name. So which names would you like as a first name? Suggest some of your favorite names, please, and let me know if you like any of the names on my massive list as middle names or nicknames. And did you want to go with a theme?

I'm saying yes to Lily and Arianna. My favorite out of the two is Arianna. As for a middle name, what about an honouring middle name? I think there are some nice names in your family; Cora, Jane and Joanna and I would like to use one of my mother's names, Margaret Philomena, some day. I think Ari would be a cute nickname but I can't stand Anna. So what do you think, Alexandra? What name do you want to give our daughter?
vote up1
What do you think of Arianna Cora, nicknaming her Ari, which is one of my favorite nicknames ever. And then our second daughter, if we have one, can be Lily Margaret. WDYT?

I like Anna but find it a bit plain... So I'd rather you chose something more interesting..

What about Beatrix Catherine? That way both of our favorites are incorporated. What about Peter Maximilian (if we ever have a boy)?

Beatrix Catherine it is.Peter Maximilian for a boy is fine.

Well, wife of mine, we have had a daughter. As I said before, I love all of your girls names, and in addition I have a few suggestions of my own.So, thus far we have:
Alice
Poppy
Rosalie
Lydia
Anabel (prefer Annabelle)
Eleanor
Johanna (this spelling only)
Rosemary
Juliet
LaurelDo you have anything to add? Remove? After that we should start making some combos.
vote up1
Yay a girl!
Of your names I like them all except Rosemary (prefer Rosalie or Rose) and Laurel (prefer Laura) love the rest, espeacially Juliet! I'm happy to change the spelling of anabelle to annabelle and do you want to take out poppy?
vote up1
Combo's
Lydia Alice
Alice Juliet - (Love! Love! Love!)
Lydia Rose
Lydia Annabelle
Lydia Juliet - Also Love :-)
Like any darling? Any more to add?

Things to choose from:
Alice
Rosalie
Lydia
Annabelle
Eleanor
Johanna
JulietAlice Juliet is alright, but it doesn't jump out at me. Perhaps Alice Johanna?I like Lydia Rose.
Eleanor Juliet?
Juliet Alice?
Johanna Rosalie?Another thing to consider - anyone we want to honour? Parents, grandparents? Some honouring combos from my family: (Names of female relatives: Heather, Louise, Lorna, Irene, Elizabeth)
Alice Irene
Rosalie Louise
Lydia Elizabeth Like any? Other ideas? Honouring your family?ETA: Also, I've been thinking about Susannah, wdyt?

I like all the combo's you came up with. If its ok with you i'd definately like to use alice in our daughters name. other combo's Isabel Alice, Charlotte Alice, Alice Jane. Susannah is ok, it doesn't blow me away though. do we want a theme?
vote up1
Oh forgot, the only honouring name i'm bothered about is Alice, If you have any honouring names important to you i'm happy to use them/it.
vote up1
In that case, my dearest spouse, I'd like Alice Johanna or Alice Irene, if that's cool with you. Which do you like best?
As far as themes go, what kind of a theme were you thinking?
vote up1
I think we should go with Alice Johanna
Theme- literature? 1 of the name could be after an author, or book character.
vote up1
Hmm.. I think we should wait and see what our next child is, and what names we like before deciding on a theme, as I wouldn't want to get locked into using names we like less because of it. I'll post our family as it up top, we'll discuss this further next time you get pregnant, dear. Unless you have a few names in mind already? Throw them out into the open if you do, and we'll see. (Actually, it's too bad you weren't fond of Earnest - if we spelled it Ernest, we'd have a lovely literature theme and Alice and Ernest is such a cute sibset.)Other questions we need to answer: tell about the pregnancy and birth. How did it go? How is the couple adjusting? What did the relatives think? The Bakers
DH: Alexander James Baker (27)
DW: Alice Nicole (Taylor) Baker (26)
DD: Alice Johanna Baker (nb)I'll leave you to describe the pregnancy and birth, my darling. I think we're both adjusting fairly well to parenthood. Little Alice is a lovely baby most of the time, but the sleepless nights have been a bit hard on all our tempers, I think. Oh and I've forgotten - how long did you decide to breastfeed for, or did we go straight to formula?
My family was rather pleased to welcome a little girl, although my father was quite put out with the name choice. "It's one think to name a son for his father, but a daughter for their mother is preposterous!" Luckily, my mother shut him up before I could try. What did your family think, sweetheart?
vote up1
I sailed through the pregnancy only getting mild morning sickness for a few weeks, I went into labour in week 41, I had a natural birth. Alice weighed 7lb and was 18 inch long. I tried to breastfeed but Alice decided she preferred formula.
vote up1
I think your right dearest we shouldn't commit to a theme. I have literature names I like, let me know what you think, Ginevra, Jane, Adele, Charlotte, Georgiana, Marianne, Lydia, Julia, Emma, Isabella, Fleur, Hermione.
Thomas, Darcy, Charles, Frederick.
vote up1
DoneI like all except Ginevra and Fleur.
For now though, shall we say we're finished this round? Let me know if you don't think we are.The Bakers

Happy with how our family looks our names go well together, little Alice even has your initials! Cute :)
vote up1
I hadn't even noticed. That is cute! Will she be going by any nicknames to avoid confusion with yourself, darling wife, or are we happy to just call the both of you Alice?
vote up1
Well I usually I get Ally. So either Lissy, Liss or just Alice. Though Lissy might be cute for while she's young. Wdyt?
vote up1
Lissy while she's young is cute, but mostly Alice. Sounds good to me!

So we got a girl. We're following tradition and making her middle name Michelle, right? What ideas for her first name? I like Lila Michelle and Nora Michelle. Also, a few more names I love and forgot to add are Abigail, Alba, and Arianna. I'm not saying use them now, just throwing them out there.
vote up1
I don't like Abigail, but Alba can go on the maybe list. I like Ariana (this spelling).
Out of Lila and Nora I prefer Nora.
What do you think of Leonora Michelle "Nora" ? Or Theodora Michelle? If you don't like them I'm fine with Nora Michelle..
vote up1
What about Ariana Michelle? This and Theodora Michelle "Theo" are my favorites.
vote up1
I prefer Theodora over Ariana, but I dislike Theo as a nickname for a girl. Do you like Thea as a nickname?
vote up1
Thea is fine. Theodora Michelle "Thea" then? Oh, and did you want to go with a theme of any kind?

This message was edited 1/3/2010, 9:29 AM

Theodora Michelle "Thea" is great.
I prefer not to have themes...what about you?
vote up1
It's not a big deal to me. If we did, I would have a non-obvious one, like classic names or names from literature. So, dear husband mine, as I was asleep after the long labor when your family arrived, how did they react when they first saw little Thea? I know my family all went baby-crazy, her being the first grandchild/niece. I think Rachel and her husband Jim were a little jealous though, don't you? They wanted to have the first baby, her being the oldest. I know my parents insisted Thea looks like me, but I think she looks more like you. What did your family think?
vote up1
Rachel and Jim sure looked jealous! I believe that Thea will have a little cousin soon!
It's hard to believe that I have a daughter, but I'm so excited! My parents are very excited to have their first grandchild too! My brother Alex and his wife are expecting their first child too and when they saw Thea they said that she was the cutest thing they had ever seen! My family thought Thea had my eyes and nose, but that she looks a lot like you too!
vote up1
I know my mom was touched we carried on the family tradition with Thea's middle name. Maybe we can honor your family with the next baby?
vote up1
We don't have any family name in my family that we "have" to use, but we could always use the name of my grandparents, parents or siblings. The only name I can think of that more than one have in my family is Hunter, my grandparents surname and my mother's maiden name. But I'm willing to use any of the names as a MN. Their names are (if you suddenly forgot them, dear wife)Me: Maximilian Isaac
Dgm1: Mary Salomea (Parker) Hunter

Now, we have to " tell about the pregnancy and birth. How did it go? How is the couple adjusting? What did the relatives think?"---The pregnancy went smoothly. It was very slow and long, but the birth went perfect.
Greg and I are adjusting very well, sleepless nights, but we were completely prepared for all of that. Henry is a very easy happy and is always happy. All the relatives absolutely love Henry! All the grandparents spoil him greatly. Kate, Allie, Gina, & Geoff love being aunts and uncle. ---
Feel free to add on. :)
