Ellen is now one year old, and for Thomas's sixth birthday, Noriya and Akari decided to give him a hamster, as he'd been asking for a new pet for a while. Thomas was very happy with the tiny rodent, and he named her Mai. She is a light brown colour and loves to be petted. Ellen has tried to grab Mai several times, but usually ends up crying due to Mai's bites. The whole family is careful not to let Mai out of her cage when nobody's around, because they don't know what Sae's hunting instincts might tell her.

After much begging in the part of the children, Michael and Ella agreed to let the children have a pet. Sienna and Cooper chose a male Shih-Tzu Maltese cross, with a chocolate brown coat. Elena was allowed to choose its name, and called it Freddo, after the chocolate frog. Cooper is glad of another male presence in the household, even if it is only a dog, and has taken on responsibility for feeding Freddo of a night. Freddo loves to curl up next to the youngest Swift child while she is sleeping.

Giacomo and Sierra have been pestering their parents to get them a puppy, and Maria and Samuele finally gave in. They took the kids to a shelter and let them pick out a puppy. Their choice was a little female they called Tiramisu, as her coat is about the color of that dessert. Misa, as she's usually called, is a lively little pup and all of the kids love her. Strangely enough, she immediately became Bettina's dog more than anyone else's. Bettina has just started walking and loves nothing better than to chase Misa around the house. Misa loves this as well, and has appointed herself Bettina's guard dog. If the baby falls or starts to cry, Misa is right beside her whining and nuzzling her. The entire family thinks this is adorable.

So they started looking into animals and ended up finding a litter of Cocker Spaniels through a search engine that would be ready to go home right then. They went to check it out and Carson immediately took to a stumbly male, Thomas and Dielle checked with the owners and soon they took the stupid, clumsy dog home naming him Alpo. The entire family loves the puppy, although Selene tends to over-feed him and squeeze him too tightly when she hugs him. Biz, however, did not like the new addition. He was always trying to nudge her into playing with him and his barking woke her up from her wonderful naps in the afternoon.

Nora is a year old now. Ever since she was little, Lexa has pestered to get a puppy. Benjamin always told her that once she got to school, she could have one. Now that Lexa is in first grade, she has held her Daddy to that promise. Benjamin and Juli took the girls to an animal shelter a few weeks ago so that they could pick out a dog. Lexa and Katy cooperated (what a surprise!) and agreed that they liked the three year old Beagle named Sousa. Sousa (who is a male) loves running around outside with the older two girls and snuggling up next to everyone! He is very affectionate, and the Mullner's were told that his previous owner spoiled him, but had gotten too old to care for him properly.
