What is
the difference between an open adoption and a closed adoption? (Don't want more kids, just wondering).
the difference between an open adoption and a closed adoption? (Don't want more kids, just wondering).
An open adoption is where you keep in touch with the child's birth parents. A closed adoption is when you have no contact with the child's birth parents at all. (I think)
What she said. But will add more.
Birthmothers (and fathers) choose the baby's parents (especially in infant adoption) and they work out a plan with the adoptive parents about how much they will be involved in their child's life. For example: a birthmother may choose not to have any more contact with the parents after she finds the right family for her child and another birthmother may choose to receive letters and pictures every so often and perhaps a visit everyonce in awhile and yet another birthmother may be very involved and considered part of the family.
Open adoption and closed adoption also works with family members, a open adoption helps children remain in contact with grandparents, siblings, etc.

Update
Melissa gave birth to a beautiful baby boy for whom she had picked the name Avery, the maiden name of her grandma that passed away when she was little. We adopted him right away, but Melissa loves to care for him. Avery is a very shy baby, but very easy, he hardly cries. Melissa still is a little wary of Scott, and we try to not make her be alone in the room with him for her sake, but we think she'll come around.
Anton, Jeremias and Karsten were very naughty when they first came to live with us. we gave them all the same room and we never knew what we would find come morning. Would their bed sheets be cut apart? would one be missing half of his hair? would there be frogs, toads, lizards or salamanders safely stored in their underwear drawer? (all of which happened) But we just kept loving them and letting them adjust and now they are quite sweet. Melissa, believe it or not, has helped Karsten alot with his schooling and he is now excelling in all his classes.
Our family is doing great, however, we would love more little girls for our little Gizelle to play with if thats an option. But we will take whoever you will give us.
Thanks again for our great kids!

We found two children for you.
KayShawn Marius [8] and Chyna LaKeisha [2]
KayShawn and Chyna are sibligns from Mississippi. Their parents died last year in the hurricane with their middle brother and sister. KayShawn had protected his sister and gotten her to saftely, however he now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from what happened and feels guilty about not getting his other siblings to saftely as well. He has many nightmares and has a lot of trouble talking about it. He also has developed headaches because of the PTSD. He will not allow them to be seperated and hope they can find a good family with a dog, cause they both love dogs so much. KayShawn is very into sports and loves to play basketball the most, he has fallen behind this year because of what happened. Chyna is developing well and loves to play with her big brother, she is definitely getting into basketball as well. She also loves to color and sing.

Update--KayShawn and Chyna [kind of long]
KayShawn is adjusting well. Laurent (DaS) is absolutly adoring the fact that he has a little brother. Even with the language barrier the two seem to be getting along. Since everyone in the family seems to like basketball, Mason and I have found it a great family activity and a superb way to bond. KayShawn, whom we call Shawn, seems to be relaxing and letting his gaurd down. I'm so glad he trusts us and gets along well with everyone.
Chyna is having a harder time adjusting to the new surrounding and everyone in the house. She is a bit frightened about our German Shepards, but she'll soon realize that they are harmless; just very curious. Manon, our DaD, is typically extremely shy and withdrawn but with someone to talk to and help teach, both girls have opened up. Manon is a wonderful helper and loves to play with Chyna. Both of them are coloring and singing in their room.
Because Mason and I are looking to adopt again, and our current house is only three bedrooms and small, we were looking around and have found what we believe is the perfect house: kitchen, dining room, large living room, study (good place for the kids to do their homework), 5 bedrooms 4 baths, a huge basement (which could serve as more bedrooms after we fix it up), and, not to mention, the house is located on 27 acres of land. We were suprised that the local schools have 900 kids kindergarten-12th plus a university. The schools are wonderful and offer extensive classes which are perfect for our diverse family (classes for the disabled and classes to teach English to those who can't, such as Laurent and Manon).

Sure, why not
Just reply with your family information and adoption critiria... still only up to four children. And prefer if you have the children you already adopted in your family.

We have found three children for you.
Gayatini Malati [12]
Gaya is a quick and spirited girl from southern India. Her parents both passed away in the tusnami a couple years ago and could not get in contact with any of her relatives. She loves school and is especially good at the sciences and maths. She wants to be a medical researcher when she is older. She was risin Hindu, but she does not mind if she is unable to practice her religion.
Cosimo Achille [14]
Cosimo has been with us since he was a young boy and his parents left him. They have not been found since. He has some emotional problems, and has slight bipolar, but on medications he has few "episodes." Besides that he has some trouble in school, teachers say that he just doesn't pay attention. He has also been known as a bully to bullies and sweet to others. He wants to be in the military or to be a cop so that he can "stop mean people from doing bad things." He is strongly Catholic and wants to continue to practice his religion.
Chauncey Catherine [16]
Chauncey is a sweet girl from England who was kicked out of her home by her step fater after her mother passed away two years ago. She has been living here since and wishes to find a sweet family. She loves to work with little children and hopes to become a teacher. She helps out a lot with the children here and they all love her dearly. She also loves art and water.

Thank you so much for giving us more great kids!
Chauncey is a great help to me, and the other children simply adore her. She has bonded with Francesca, and Francesca has started speaking to her - if only a few words.
Cosimo is a handful, but he gets along well with his siblings. He has been doing better in school, and received a 'school citizenship' award because he is so loyal to his new friends. I am not a diligant Catholic, but Cosimo and Nicholas have been going to church together, along with a few of the other children.
Gaya is a joy! She gets along well with everyone, and is so sweet! She opens up to me, and even told me all about a boy she met at school! It has also been a great learning experience for all the children, Nicholas, and myself. She has been teaching us about Hindu. I was a bit worried that Cosimo might not like it, but he listens and asks questions just like the rest of us.
Yesterday, we all went for a hike and had a lovely time! Chauncey carried Finley on her back - he adores her!
Thanks again!
