Alexander has recently inherited his family's estate, upon the passing of his father. His mother, Elizabeth Violet, lives with the family in the country house, where she aids in Alexander and Mehitabel's attempts to find Chloe a proper suitor, much to Chloe's dismay, and helps Phoebe with her embroidery endeavors. Anthony is not sure where his future lies, though Alexander is attempting to push him toward politics, and Mehitabel agrees, so long as it keeps her little boy out of the military.
