So, her, too, was all the Dowager Queen thought when she received the letter from her son, Prince Oliver, telling her that his wife was dead. She had grown to like the Princess Adelina, but she was numb to death. She was only slightly more moved when her beautiful little grand daughter, Princess Mary, eldest daughter of King William, had passed away. Sickness came often and rarely left survivors. All of England was used to it, and so, of course, was the Dowager Queen. Poor Kitty had made up for Mary with three births - one, thank God, was a boy. Meg, too, had welcomed three children, and again, one was a little boy.
At least Felix had married at last - of course, since it was Felix, it was along the lines of a whirlwind elopement, but she was a duchess (despite being an Irish one) which was the best any of her children had done by that point. The girl soon had a child, a very pretty little girl who looked much like Felix, and which they'd given some ridiculous continental name to - the Dowager just called her Tina. Christopher, too, had got himself married (to a very pretty and very young baroness whilst on a military training expedition) and even Nicholas had made his mother proud. In fact - Nicholas had done the best. He'd won himself an Italian princess. Apparently they had bonded over astronomy, which seemed rather modern and obscure to the Dowager, but she was pleased, anyhow. Clever Christopher; he'd broken Felix's record. Once again, the girl was very young, but that hardly mattered.
