Year One: Travel to Australia and New Zealand
Newlyweds Devan and Finn travel to Australia and New Zealand for their two week honeymoon! They spend many hours on the beautiful beaches and explored the filming locations for Lord of the Rings.
Year Two: Birth of Daughter
Devan got pregnant in her last year of university and luckily, she wasn't due until after graduation. Three months after getting her physics degree, Devan gave birth to her and Finn's first child. Their daughter, Charlotte Lucy Mackenzie MacMathan was born healthy. She has little tufts of red hair and bright blue eyes. The whole family was very excited for Charlotte's arrival!
Year Three: Pet Fish
Devan decided to get a pair of goldfish one day. Finn chose the names Merry and Pippin for the fish.
Year Four: Death of Finn's Mother
Finn's mother Sarah MacMathan was killed in a predator attack in England. Finn, his siblings and father Riordan are all devastated. Devan, Finn and Charlotte flew to Ireland for her funeral and burial. Finn was given a one month leave of absence to grieve and get back on his feet.
Year Five: Birth of Quadruplets
Devan got the surprise of a lifetime when she found out she was pregnant with triplets. On delivery day though, out came FOUR babies! The quads were named in birth order: Sarah Moírín Dylan, Liliana Zoe Keelan, Isaac Gallagher Rían and Abigail Clodagh Willow. The quads have no identicals in them. Sarah and Abigail have fair hair while Liliana and Isaac have darker hair. Sarah has green eyes, Liliana and Abigail have blue while Isaac has hazel. Devan and Finn have quite a handful of children now! They have recruited family members to come help with the newborn quads once they leave the hospital.
Year Six: Birth of Daughter
Devan was warned not to try for any more children soon after the birth of the quads. Their plans went array when she became pregnant anyways! Their 5th daughter, Emilie Caoimhe Faith MacMathan, was born slightly early but healthy. The family hired two full time nannies to help with the 5 young MacMathans, and Charlotte does her best to help with the toddlers.
Year Seven: Volunteering at Samaritans Purse
Finn wanted to do something special at Christmas, so he brought Charlotte to help pack Operation Christmas Child boxes at their local Samaritans Purse. Charlotte really loved it since she was able to get out of the house and help somewhere else. Finn decided he wanted to do this every subsequent year, taking the five younger ones when they're old enough.
Year Eight: Birth of Twins
Devan was shocked but happy to hear she's pregnant again! She conceives fraternal twins, and has to take extra precautions since she's had multiples before. Her and Finn's twin sons Henry Tadhg Leonard and Rory Garrett William MacMathan were born naturally and healthy. Both have dark hair and look similar except Henry has blue eyes while Rory has green.
Year Nine: Devan Goes For Masters
Devan has decided now that the quads are in school, she will continue with her education at UBC. Devan starts her two year Masters in Physics program are all is going well at home.
Year Ten: Adopt a Cat
For Christmas this year, Finn and Devan gave their kids a kitten as a gift! They named it Mittens because of her white paws.
Year Eleven: Death of Devan's Father
Devan's father Evan Cross was killed by a mysterious creature, he was 66 years old at the time of his death. Andrew and Miles (her older brothers), Dylan (her mother) and Devan are all devastated. Shortly before her father's death, Devan graduates with top honors in her Master's program and takes over her father's research.
Year Twelve: I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant
With all the stress in the last year, Devan didn't pick up the signs that she could be pregnant. Finn took Devan to the hospital when she began to experience severe abdominal pain. There she found out she was seven months pregnant and in labour. Their son, Evan Quinn Riordan was born two months premature. The whole Cross and MacMathan families are in shock about this unexpected birth. Evan was released after a month in the NICU, and is getting bigger every day. The littlest MacMathan has dark hair and blue eyes, just like his grandfather and namesake.
