Name: Ottilie Geraldine Lin Delacroix
Alias: Kairos
Age: 22Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Appearance: Hair colour is naturally black, but dyed hot pink and frequently wrecked with various hair dyes. Aforementioned pink hair falls to below her shoulders and is slightly wavy and very flyaway. Eyes are almond shaped and dark brown in colour; she is slightly short-sighted and so wears glasses. She has a button nose and a few freckles, with a skin-tone which is a testimony to her mixed Asian and Caucasian heritage. Not as muscular as pictured, she is instead short and compact, slightly toned from self-defense classes but not massively strong and still with a tiny bit of a belly from too many chocolates. She has several tattoos on her person from a more rebellious youth. Her costume is homemade and impromptu - a teal dress with a silver slash design, a black belt, choker and boots, and bright pink arm...things. She also has a battered jacket - all edgy and punkish and slightly too rebellious youth, but she's never grown out of it - she likes to wear. It's not the best costume - it's not even identifiable, but that suits her low-attention attitude perfectly, and besides, anything more complex is beyond her.Ability: (Mutant) Chronokinesis. Basically, the control of time. Tilly can see backwards and occasionally forwards in time, dependent on being in contact with the place, person or thing in question. For example, she can see what events might unfold in a place, but only if she is physically in that place when attempting to use her power. Because of the nature of time, these things might not happen or might unfold in a different way, and because of the nature of her power, things are often cryptic, even to the point where they don't make sense until after the event has happened, or key details may be omitted. Seeing into the past is, obviously, far easier. Ottilie can also stop time, but only for the amount of time she can hold her breath. She can skip backwards and forwards in time to a maximum of ten minutes each way, but not too often as it makes things... confusing... and with great difficulty slow down time compared to her own personal "time bubble" as she calls it. The whole thing can give her a massive headache and leave her and others not knowing what day it is, let alone what week. (Kudos to everyone I slightly took inspiration from)Backstory: At the age of five months, Ottilie Delacroix was adopted by Leopoldine and Herbert Delacroix, a couple of mainly French origin who, after having three children of their own, found themselves deciding to adopt children rather than attempting to produce more of their own. This was somewhat prompted by their aging status - they had met a little late in life and started a family a little late too - but also because Herbert had become aware of how many parentless children there were who could benefit from a loving home. Tilly was never raised to believe that Herbert and Leopoldine were her birth parents - she didn't look like them, for one - but they might as well have been. After her mutant abilities became evident, some research into her origins revealed that she had been born as Lin Zhao (趙琳) and her mother had been Mei-Yin Zhao "Maya Zhao" (趙美荫), a Chinese-American woman now working as a scientist, and Patrick Sanders, an elusive figure from whom Ottilie inherited her mutated genes. Ottilie reclaimed Lin to reflect her heritage, but decided against trying to contact either parent. She decided that it was too messy and that Leopoldine and Herbert were more her parents; she also, rather childishly, thought that Maya and Patrick had made their decision as to whether they wanted to know her at all many years ago, anyway. Tilly's power emerged when she was nineteen years old, and pretty much prompted her quitting smoking and beginning to take an interest in crime fighting. In many ways, though, she hasn't changed, still eccentric and occasionally foolish, stubborn, opinionated and free-spirited. She took her alias, Kairos, a Greek word meaning, well, weather, but also an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment), "a passing instant when an opening appears which must be driven through with force if success is to be achieved". Basically, a window of opportunity, and while it seemed oddly fitting, it also drove home the point that you wouldn't believe how few time-related names their are.
