Diane and Ben were happy with their little family and weren't really planning on having any more children. Diane loves what she does for a living and really wanted to go back to work after eight months at home with Louisa but after only a few months she found out that she was pregnant. She loved the idea of having another child and a brother or sister for Louisa but she was disappointed since she had just adjusted to being a working mother and a police detective at that. Ben was really excited when she told him the news which made her feel better. Diane decided to really enjoy the time she had left at work before her maternal leave. Unfortunately, she took over a case that was supposed to be easy but turned out to be really difficult. One day when she and her partner went to check out a tip related to this case Diane was seriously hurt by a man and was rushed to the hospital where her son was delivered by an emergency c-section. Thankfully, the baby was fine but Diane had to spend several weeks at the hospital. The recovered was long and difficult and Ben had to take some time off from work.
The family is doing well now and Ben and Diane are finally able to enjoy having a second child. Diane has decided that she won't return to work. She still have some trouble after her injuries and the incident scared her and the fact that she now have two small children made her realise that they and Ben are the most important things in her life.
