Jasper and Emmy have now been together for seven years and have decided that they do not feel the need to get married at this point in time. Jasper graduated from Harvard Law School two years ago and is now working as a human rights lawyer for Amnesty International. Whilst the work takes him around the world, he is lucky that Emmy can often accompany him in her job as a photographer for the charity. It was on one of these trips that Jasper and Emmy decided to expand their family, adopting a son from genocide-stricken Sudan who they named Huck. A year later their family expanded again, this time unexpectedly when Emmy's best friend Isla and her husband Paul were killed in a car crash, orphaning their two-year-old daughter Scout.
