The Beginning: Moshe and Delilah both come from Orthodox Jewish families. The two of them are Jewish, but don't consider themselves strictly Orthodox. Moshe has jet black hair and soft brown eyes. Delilah has long straight brown hair and brown eyes as well. Moshe is a businessman. He works for a large corporation in their research and development department. He enjoys his job, and the occasional chances he has to go on business trips. Delilah currently works as a school janitor. She works in an elementary school, and is part of the day staff there. She likes her job, mostly because it is a part-time job, and she's around kids most of the day, even if she doesn't interact with them. Delilah has dreams of a large family, while Moshe wants just one or two children.
Year 1: Job; pay raise
Moshe got a pay raise this year. He was promoted to a lower-level management position within the company, and with the promotion came a hefty pay raise. Moshe now makes enough to support both himself and Delilah on his salary alone, but Delilah enjoys her job, so she's sticking to it for now.
Year 2: birth: boy (straight black hair, brown eyes); found out about pregnancy in weird way; FN associated w/ocean, MN associated w/presidents
Moshe and Delilah were elated to find out that they were going to have a baby--even moreso when doctors told them it was a boy. Both Moshe and Delilah wanted their firstborn to be a son--not that they wouldn't want a daughter, but they really wanted a son. Dylan Abraham Florenthal was born a week and a half before his due date, but he was healthy. He has his father's jet black hair, and shares his brown eyes with his parents. Just before Delilah found out she was pregnant, she received a phone call from Moshe's mother, Hannah. Hannah stated that God told her in a dream that Moshe and Delilah were going to be parents, and that they would have a little boy. Delilah thanked Hannah, but dismissed her dream as simply that--a dream. Two days later, her own mother, Rivka, called her and told a story much the same as Hannah's. She'd had a dream that Moshe and Delilah would have a son within the year. Delilah dismissed her mother's dream as a simple dream as well. When she became violently ill the next morning, the thought occurred to her that maybe her mother and mother-in-law were right. A week later, she went to the doctor and he told her she was about six weeks pregnant. When she was four months pregnant, Delilah made the decision to quit her job as a janitor and devote herself full-time to raising her son.
Year 3: adoption: 5 year old girl from Australia
Dylan was just a few months old when Moshe and Delilah got a phone call from one of Moshe's cousins in Australia. She was a single mother, and did not live within the Jewish community. She told Moshe that doctors had just informed her that she had a brain tumor, and had less than a year to live. She decided to get in touch with her family again and see if one of them would raise her daughter. Moshe flew out to see her immediately and fell in love with her daughter, Annie. He spent two weeks in Australia, then returned to the United States to tell the rest of the family the bad news. Just eleven weeks after he returned, he got a phone call from a hospital in Australia, saying that his cousin had passed away suddenly. The cousin had designated Moshe as next of kin, and therefore, he was responsible for her daughter. Moshe and Delilah made the decision to raise the little girl instead of giving her up for adoption. Anna Elisabeth Goldberg joined the family two months ago. She was quiet at first, but Dylan seemed to draw her out of her shell, and now she hardly mentions Australia.
Year 4: job; pay raise
After three years at his current salary, Moshe was given another substantial pay raise. He was surprised, to say the least, but is happy that he can provide for his family.
Year 5: pet: rodent
Moshe and Delilah had agreed that when Dylan got to preschool, that they would get a pet. They went to the pet store, and let Annie choose a little hamster to help care for. She chose a small yellow and white hamster, which Dylan named "Josie".
Year 6: family affair: you find a stray
One day, while at the park, Delilah, Annie, and Dylan noticed a white and brown dog wandering around--apparently with no owner. Delilah warned the kids to stay away from the dog, and thought no further of it. Later that week when they went back to the park, they saw that the dog was still there, and still without an owner. That Saturday, Moshe and Delilah returned to the park, thinking that the dog would certainly be gone by now. It wasn't. They managed to catch the dog and took her home. For the next month, Delilah and Moshe asked around and put up flyers, but no one was missing a dog. After that long, the kids had gotten attached to the dog, whom Delilah named Liora. Moshe and Delilah decided that having a dog would be good for the kids. Liora is about four years old, and she is a mixed breed.
Year 7: birth: girl (wavy black hair, gray eyes); uneventful; FN word name; MN common
The Florenthal family is proud to welcome a little girl into their home! Harmony Isabelle Florenthal was born eight hours after her due date. She has wavy jet black hair and surprising grey eyes. "Mona" is a delightful baby--already giggling and cooing. Annie loves having a little sister, and Dylan is quickly warming up to his sister as well.
Year 8: birth: boy (straight brown hair, brown eyes); born in a different country; FN starts w/N; MN related to art/artist
Delilah was shocked to find out that just four months after baby Mona was born, that she was expecting again! When Delilah was almost seven months pregnant, she and Moshe took Annie to Australia for a long-awaited reunion with some friends there she'd been writing to. While in the country, Delilah went into labor. The Rosenthal's second son, Nathaniel Blake Rosenthal, was born in a hospital in Sydney. Dylan was beside himself--he was stuck in the US with his grandparents while his baby brother got to see Australia! Moshe returned to the US with Annie about two weeks after Nate was born. Delilah and Nate returned six weeks after that, once Nate was well-enough to travel.
Year 9: job; business trip
It has been several years since Moshe was able to take a business trip with his company--managerial duties kept him close to home. However, he was recently given an opportunity to go to Italy to pitch a new idea there. Moshe jumped at the chance, and had a lovely time in Italy--taking in all the touristy sights, of course. Also this year, Josie the hamster passed away at the ripe old age of four. Dylan was crushed that his first pet passed away, but Annie was able to keep his mind off it.
Year 10: birth: multiples (b/b/g): straight black hair, amber eyes; straight brown hair, hazel eyes; straight brown hair, amber eyes; uneventful; FN assoc. w/royalty, MN author/lit related; FN author/lit related, MN Spanish; FN author/lit related, MN OACT site
Delilah had hoped to have another child, and she recently got her wish! She and Moshe welcomed triplets into their family just three weeks ago. The babies were born about a month early, but that's common for multiples, so nobody has really worried about it. The children are all doing well--two boys and a girl. The eldest is Elijah Benjamin, the second is Isaiah Abel, and the youngest is Nydia Chloe. Annie likes having the kids around, and is earning lots of money by babysitting. Dylan doesn't much like "all the little kids" in the house, but Moshe tries to make time to do special things with his eldest child. The younger two, Mona and Nate, are absolutely loving the new babies, though they too are feeling the want of attention.
Year 11: travel: national park
This year, Moshe and Delilah took the kids to Mt. Rushmore, a national monument in the US. The cross-country trip was a bit difficult--what with seven children and two adults, but they made it all right. The kids enjoyed the park, and seeing the presidents' faces, but everybody was glad to get home, too.
Year 12: random, family vacation
The most noteworthy thing this year was the family vacation. Moshe and Delilah took the kids to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Annie especially liked it because she and Moshe got to ride all the rollercoasters together. The little kids had fun too, and liked meeting all the characters from their Disney movie collection.
Year 13: move ((http://www.pattersondesign.ca/cottages/westwindi1.jpg))
After twelve years in their house, Delilah wanted a change of scenery. Moshe found a delightful log-cabin style house that would fit everyone. It's very open, with lots of windows, but not as large as their old house. The kids like having lots of trees around, and everybody likes the seclusion the house offers them.
Year 14: family affair: move ((http://www.seenonrealestate.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/haunted-house-0.png))
The cabin the woods, while cute, just wasn't big enough for the Florenthal's growing family. This year, they moved to a large house that was used in an old horror movie. It's a large structure, and the empty rooms easily lend themselves to ghost stories; however, once the house was filled with children, it was much less scary. The kids love having the extra room to move around--plus everybody gets their own room!
Year 15: birth: girl (straight brown hair, brown eyes); uneventful; FN mythological, MN starts w/Q, X, or U
Just after they got settled in their new house, Delilah found out she was pregnant again! Nine months passed quickly, and she gave birth to a little girl named Elaine Uliana Florenthal. "Laina" has brown hair and brown eyes--same as her mother. The kids like the new baby, but they were just getting used to no more preschoolers in the house.
