One night, while trying to get Willis and Archie in bed, Emma received a phone call from a lawyer in France. He told her that her great aunt, Esme, had died and left her home to her. She was shocked. She had spent many summers on her aunt's lavender farm in France and although she had not seen her since high school, she was very fond of her. Esme never had any children of her own and spoiled Emma like she was her own daughter. Emma was very sad for her aunt, but also confused about what she should do. Living in France had always been a dream of hers, but it seemed impossible now that they had their farm and three children to think of. But when she talked it over with Grayson he surprised her by saying he thought it would be exciting to move to France! After months of planning and figuring everything out, the Zimmerman family headed to France (along with Mila Sue and Grady of course!).
It took a while for them to adjust. After all, it had been along time since Emma took French in high school, and now she had to teach Grayson too. But they love the friendly town that is only 20 minutes away and Emma buys tons of fresh produce from the farmers market. The French countryside is beautiful and their house sits on the edge of gorgeous lavender fields, so the boys have plenty of land to run around on. Along with the house the also inherited a feisty goat (who they named Roosevelt) and a very sweet horse (named Rockefeller). Mila Sue spends a lot of time hiding from Roosevelt, who thinks he owns the place, but she and Grady love running around with the boys and playing games.
