It has been a very busy eight years and lots of things have changed in the Thompson family. Wil and Bekah are doing well together. They currently have one child left at home--Elena. Other than that, they are enjoying their years without children at home. Wil still works in the construction field, but he's a manager and works at a central office instead of on site. Bekah never did get a paying job, but she volunteers at the local hospital three mornings a week transporting patients to and from their various therapies and helping families find their loved ones.
Matt and Rosie currently live in Germany where Matt is stationed. He has served for 21 years in the Air Force and is eligible to retire and live off an Air Force pension, bu Matt loves what he does. He's still able to fly as well as he did when he was younger. He'd like to become a flying instructor when he gets too old to fly active duty. Matt and Rosie's children are almost grown up now too. Emily is in high school and speaks German almost better than she speaks English. Sophia and Jeremy are in middle school. They also speak good German, but prefer English or Spanish.
Amber and Eddie have been doing well. Amber opened her own veterinary practice three years ago and it has been thriving. Eddie has his hopes set on owning an auto repair place of his own in the next year or so, if all his investments turn out well. Their daughter, Stella, is nine now. She is a beautiful child and Amber sometimes worries that she'll grow up thinking too highly of herself. Amber and Eddie had a little boy five years ago, Felipe Norberto.
Joey has worked as a family physician for the past five years now. He got married five years ago as well. His wife, Jennie, is an RN at an assisted living facility in the area. Joey and Jennie have two daughters, Laurie and Lisa.
Emma and Samuel's family has also grown. Six years ago they were surprised by a second set of twins, Violet and Jake. Noah and Ryan have become good friends, though they don't always feel brotherly towards each other any more. Noah plans to go into the Air Force like his Uncle Matt. Ryan isn't sure yet what he wants to do, but he has recently received custody of his five month old son, Riley. Ryan and his girlfriend broke up before she told him she was pregnant. She didn't want the baby anymore, so Ryan said that he would raise him instead.
Alice and Cliff have three children, Lottie, Katie, and Alex. Alice's gymnastics business is going well. She currently has about 30 families that have kids in lessons--and some of them are very good. Her husband Cliff is an editor for a university press company.
Sara works in an acute rehab hospital doing physical therapy. She and her husband Carl have been married for six months, and Sara just shared the good news that she's expecting a baby!
Elena still lives with Wil and Bekah. She never quite recovered from the brain injuries she suffered in her car accident over ten years ago. She goes to a sheltered workshop every morning and attends an adult day care three afternoons a week. She functions well, but will never be normal.
Jason started playing hockey in the major leagues four years ago. He loves what he does, but sometimes wonders at the cost to his body. Already at twenty-eight he's had reconstructive knee surgery, two concussions, lost three teeth, and bruised his ribs and shoulders more often than he'd care to admit. His wife Mari is a good match for him, however. She is very supportive and stays at home with their four young boys.
Alan is a researcher employed by a large drug company. He develops and tests new drugs for all sorts of things ranging from cancer to eczema to genetic disorders. He got married last year to a colleague named Martha who has a five year old son from a previous marriage.
Mary finally found a steady job as a secretary for a business corporation. She still dreams of being an actress and travels around on the weekends to casting calls and tryouts around the country. So far she's had some minor roles but is still waiting for her big break. Her husband, Tim, is a free spirit. He is a self-made novelist, poet, photographer, and musician. He takes odd jobs where he can and is also waiting for the world to notice him. Mary and Tim have a two year old daughter named Felicia Jane.
