You think: Sounds dated on a girl, but kind of refreshing on a boy.
This is my daughter, Wilma Ginevra - she goes by Billie Jean
You say: Hello, Billie Jean.
You think: Wilma Ginevra is lovely. Billie would be a nicer nickname than Billie Jean, if you ask me.
This is my son, Harlequin - he goes by Quin
You say: That's an interesting name!
You think: It is. Quin is nice, and Harlequin could definitely grow on me.
This is my daughter, Antonietta - she goes by Nedda
You say: Hello Nedda, nice to meet you.
You think: Antoinette is beautiful, but Antoinetta is a little bit too elaborate for me. Nedda isn't bad, but sounds a little old for a girl. Netta or Nettie would be my preference.
This is my son, Pierre - he goes by Pierrot
You say: Hi there, Pierrot.
You think: Don't particularly like it....
