Re: Elimination (names we're considering)
I always considered Sophia for my daughter's name, and my sister's middle name is Rae. When she was little, she hated it, and that's basically how the other two people I know with that middle name felt about it, and that was their middle name. I always liked it though, it's original. I like Nora, and Sophie makes me think of "Sophie's Choice", I also like Blythe, but what's with Scarlett and Rhett...did you recently watch 'Gone with the Wind'? Scarlett is pretty, but it kind of sounds like a whore's name. Vaughn sounds like a pimp's name and Duncan will be beaten in the school yard. If you're Indian, Rohan's cute, but other than that, eh. I like Ada and Brooklyn too. My mom's name was Kathleen, so I always associate that with an oilder ladie. And Sylvia and Arwen sound to me like old chainsmokers. Other than that, the rest are boring. Hope this message doesn't make you angry, I know I would be defensive of the names I was seriously considering for my child. Here's a bit of advice I think works best -make a list of names, like you've done, and see if any names are the same, Victoria is on both lists. That's a pretty and classic name.

Sophia, Sophie, Cara, Paige, Addy, Brooklyn, Ada, Nora, Scarlett, and Melanie are names that we both like and could agree on. I do love Gone With the Wind, but that's not what I was thinking when we discussed these names. I wouldn't name siblings Scarlett and Rhett of course. Scarlett doesn't sound like a whore to me, it sounds like a beautiful, strong willed girl who is hard working and intelligent. Lillian and Victoria and the middle names of my great grandmother. That is why Victoria is used as a mn as well. I don't like Lillian for a mn which is why it's not on that list. Boys fn's are also one's that we like and agree on. As for mn's, Lynn is after my aunt Linda. I don't think that Linda works well as a mn so I shortened it. Kathleen is my mother's name also and the most wonderful person in the world to me so I would name my child after her. Laura is my aunt's name and my mn. Joy, Blythe, and Allison are all very close friends of mine that I would't hestitate to honor for being wonderful people. Rae is my grandmother's mn and my cousin's mn. Sylvia was my first and favorite ballet instructor and is the most beautiful and talented woman that I have ever met. Arwen is a name that my SO likes so I agreed to it as a mn. All boys mn's are for similar family and friends" my uncles, grandfather, brother, SO, cousin, etc. Vaughan is after my favorite composer and sounds classic and sophisticated to me.
MN: Andrew, Michael, Eric, Duncan, Jesse, James, Luther, Peter, William, Paul, Anthony, Vaughan
