Message: "Ruane" - Behind the Name

has anyone ever come across this name? I saw it on a painting; I checked a few times to make sure it wasn't Duane with a fancy D, and it was most definitely Ruane. the painting (actually, two by the same artist) was in a coffee shop in northern CA, but the shops in the paintings had French names on them.

any ideas?

Ruane(ROO-an) is an Irish surname. Or it could be someone's interpretation of Rouen?

ah. perhaps. thanks for the info.

ps: just in case I was unclear, Ruane was the given name of the artist. I can't remember the last name.
